The series is set during the reign of Mozaffar ad-Din Shah of the Qajar dynasty. It highlights a complicated love story between Golnar and Esmail, who fall in love despite the social and political turmoil of that era.
Golnar escapes from her father Taqi Khan‘s home on the day his palace falls, and later re-enters the royal world under a new identity. Meanwhile, Taqi Khan plays a central role in the political conflicts, eventually facing imprisonment and the loss of his wife.
